Need some inspiration for cool things to draw? Well, you’ve come to the right place! Unfortunately, September is kind of a slow month as far as new and exciting things. I guess that’s because everyone is saving up for October and December. Still, there are a few new and exciting things to act as your muse. This month there are a couple of good movies, a lot of video games, and even a few new comics to get your creative juices flowing. Of course, if there’s nothing here that suits your fancy, you could always get a head start on October because inktober is right around the corner!
Venomverse (September 6th, 2017)
The big event launching this month is from Marvel. Not much is known about the series, but it seems as though the alien symbiote that belongs to Venom is going to be spreading to other heroes and villains. Now, this offers the opportunity for you to take your favorite Marvel character and throw the Venom suit on them. The ideas are nearly endless as anyone from Deadpool to the Punisher to Ironman could sport a new look in the alien symbiote. Of course, there will be official versions of the characters, but this is a chance to really flex your creativity and come up with your own versions.
Destiny 2 (September 6th, 2017)
Destiny was a massive hit. Three years later there are still people who play it every day. The new game looks to be just as huge of a hit and offer just as much inspiration. While character customization has been a big part of the game, the same character classes will be available again. So, artists can always draw inspiration from Hunters, Warlocks, and Titans to create some spectacular fan art. You can bet that Destiny 2 will be a trending on Instagram, which can guarantee some great exposure.
It (September 8th, 2017)
Who doesn’t love a clown? Well, it turns out most people don’t after Pennywise burst onto the scene. While Tim Curry was pretty terrifying, there is a lot of artistic inspiration to draw from the newest version, especially with how nightmarish Bill Skarsgård looks. While there’s not a lot of news as to the quality of the film, you can bet that Pennywise is going to be on everybody’s minds after the movie comes out. Which brings me to my next suggestion.
First The Dark Tower and now It is hitting theaters, it’s looking like a big year for Stephen King fans. Which means it is also looking like a big year for people to draw artistic inspiration from his works. Luckily for you, he has a tremendous library to choose from. Besides the titles mentioned, there are such tales as Cujo, Carrie, The Shining, and many, many more. So, if you’re looking for some drawing ideas, this one could keep you busy all month, and I already have a feeling that it might be a popular one.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle (September 14th, 2017)
The first Kingsman movie was a rousing success among fans and the sequel looks to follow in its footsteps. Not only that, but many of fan favorite characters will be back with plenty of new faces as well. Of course, it’s not just the movie, but there is also a new comic series coming out. The trailer for the film already offers plenty of great sequences and reveals for artists to draw inspiration from. So, if you’re not looking to jump into the horror genre yet, this would definitely be a great movie to get some cool drawing ideas from.
Metroid: Samus Returns (September 15th, 2017)
On the other hand, there are a lot of characters to choose from in Marvel vs Capcom Infinite, and if you have artist’s block that could leave you feeling indecisive. So, why not go with a classic game character set to make a comeback? Samus Aran is one of the best female game protagonists of all time. The armor wearing bounty hunter can offer both action and sex appeal. It all just depends on what the artist wants to do. Best of all, she’s gained such a firm foothold in the game industry that she’s not going anywhere. So, any art you create of her will still be worthwhile for years to come.
Runaways #1 (September 13th, 2017)
Marvel is bringing back the Runaways in a big way. Not only are they relaunching the comic, but it’s been confirmed that they are set to release a live action series on Hulu in the near future (casting is already under way). The series revolves around a group of teenagers that discover their parents are a group of Supervillains, and (as the title suggest) run away to escape them. Of course, being the children of super powered evil doers means that they have powers and abilities as well. The original run was incredible and the group offers up a lot of cool drawing ideas.
Marvel vs Capcom Infinite (September 19th, 2017)
Speaking of video games, Marvel vs Capcom is making a comeback. Unfortunately, early reviews aren’t that great. Still, artists looking for cool drawing ideas will find a huge list of popular character to choose from in this game’s roster. Superhero fan art has always been popular, but Capcom characters aren’t necessarily seen as much. So, if you’re looking for a little bit of inspiration outside the norm, you won’t be disappointed with these options. Especially since they range from Megaman to Ryu to Dante.
Even though it’s a bit of a slow month, September still offers up plenty of inspiration for cool drawing ideas. Of course, if none of these ideas are of interest to you, you can always take a look at last month’s article. If you do decide to use any of the ideas from this article, be sure to share it on our Facebook page or tag our Instagram @insta.confu, so that I can check it out and show it off!
